A short while ago we had the pleasure of meeting the super strong and inspirational young woman that is Lauren White. Not only a hard working PT, Lauren is working hard to make a difference to peoples lives in many different ways. We find out her story, her motivation and her vision.
Present:
I am 22 years old and I am two and a half years sober from drugs, alcohol and bulimia. I am a personal trainer and fitness model from Hertfordshire, as well as a motivational speaker for the Amy Winehouse foundation. I also speak in schools about my own story and also to motivate others to follow the right path.
Past:
When I was younger I had a lot of physiological issues such as low self-esteem and insecurities. These stemmed from both family traumas and natural teenage hormones. I also think going into modeling from a young age added to these insecurities.
I started using when I was 11 years old and this was progressive until I was 19. At 19 I hit rock bottom, i’d say my turning point was experiencing a close family member getting ill. I went into a day care rehab for 4 months and from then on, I was on my road to recovery.
Future:
I personally see myself as some sort of life coach, not just physically as a personal trainer, but also mentally from a motivational speaking side. I look into physiological problems to help people.
In the near future I want to open up a campaign/charity for young women with any addiction or psychological issues, to show everyone that it’s ok to have feelings, and that’s it is ok to not be ok. I want to raise awareness about how many people actually have issues behind the scenes, and to notice and deal with issues early before problems escalate.
I believe that most people that are successful in life have been through something that has driven and motivated them.

Always be positive about yourself and love yourself as much as you can. You can’t love anything else until you love yourself.

Best advice you were ever given:
Acceptance is key. When I was in recovery I couldn’t change the way that people thought and I was getting very angry because of this. The one thing I learnt was that I needed to accept that everything was where it needed to be in life, to accept that some people wouldn’t change, places wouldn’t change, but I was where I needed to be and it was in Gods time, the most important thing was that I was happy and to get there we must accept.

Be true to who you are, don’t try to be any different. Own it.
